A FAMILY MATTER
Founded in 1956 in Saint-Émile, between Quebec City and the Huron Native Indian Reserve, by Mr.Henri Auclair and Mr.Jules Martineau, Auclair & Martineau specializes in the manufacture of slippers and traditional moccasins. The company will experience significant growth in the early 1980s, reaching a production of 1 million pairs per year. In 1993, Amimoc brand was born!
It was in 1995 that Xavier Leclercq took over the company and developed the boot market by creating the Martino trademark in addition to Amimoc.
In 2007, Jonathan Leclercq becomes president and owner. Auclair & Martineau continues the tradition but now exports to Japan, China, South Korea and Europe. The third trademark of the company is also created: Maël.
In 2012, Auclair and Martineau added to its distribution network the Amimoc boutique in Quebec City, located in Petit Champlain area, which became the first direct point of sale. This showcase will serve as a laboratory for the company as the link between the customers and the manufacturer will enrich the product offering and help build better support for retailers. It is also through the store that the iconic Banff boot will be popularized and will modernize the face of the company. This instant success will lead to the opening of 2 additional stores in Montreal, one in Vancouver and an online sales platform on amimoc.ca.
More than 60 years after its founding, the Auclair and Martineau team still operates its plant in Quebec City and has more than 90 people who work passionately to create, manufacture and market genuine leather boots, shoes, moccasins and accessories. Today, Auclair and Martineau rank among the most famous Canadian shoe manufacturers.
Back in the day, Misters Auclair and Martineau crafted their first moccasins the same way their ancestors made them for centuries. The selected natural leather was carefully assembled by hand to ensure a superior quality product. It is with this same approach that we are still working today.
